Volunteer: Site Representative - Cancer Nutrition Assistance (Brewer)Role Description When you have been diagnosed with cancer, uncertainty consumes you. Support takes on many different forms for different people. The Christine B. Foundation (CBF) is here to help navigate through this uncertainty for 1,000 Mainers a year, extending access to healthy food, nutritional information and the comfort and strength essential to their strength and comfort. CBF is looking for empathetic and compassionate individuals that enjoy interacting with and assisting patients facing cancer and would be dedicated to improving the patient experience through our Cancer Nutrition Assistance Program (CNAP). This service provides patients and their families with both a no cost fresh Produce Prescription program and home delivered medically tailored grocery packages.The CNAP Site Representative(s) primary role is to be the face of CBF at our pick up location in the Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer. Every week our Site Representatives greets patients with a cheerful smile and assists them through the process of selecting from an array of fresh fruits and vegetables that best suits their medical and personal needs. Working directly with Program Staff, you will be trained on critical aspects of the many aspects of CNAP programming, HIPAA and program policy, EHR computer software, and the tools to really make a difference to each patient you meet. You will also be trained as a volunteer under Northern Light Health to ensure that we are aware of and respect their policies and procedures. In this position you will make an immediate and positive difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. This position is in a medical setting where you will regularly interact directly with patients, actively use a computer with EHR software, and provide patients with nutritional support. Location: Lafayette Family Center Center, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412 Schedule: Weekly (preferred) Day of the Week: Monday and Wednesday available Time of Day: 11:30 pm til 3:00 pm Position Role: Assist patients being seen by CBF to access and select items from the Fresh Produce Prescription Program . The assistance will help in supporting the nutritional needs of patients and aid in gathering information to measure CBF's impact and enhance the patient experience. On Monday, from 7am-9:30am, the volunteer group would meet at the CBF Fulfillment Site on Hancock Street, pick up the CBF Cargo Van, and gather orders from two to three vendor locations in Hampden and Bangor. However, for rural deliveries, CBF may be able to meet volunteer Home Delivery drivers closer to the home destination. Households are eligible for grocery package deliveries once a week.
