Volunteer: Volunteer Coordinator at Leroy Smith School

Help ignite the potential of kids in Winterport! We are seeking a Coordinator for our Leroy Smith Elementary School program, starting in the Fall of 2022 and running through the 2022-23 school year.

As a Site-Based Coordinator You Will:

-Oversee and supervise weekly match meetings to ensure match quality and child safety.  

-Volunteer 2 hours once a week during the school year (Oct-May), with school vacation weeks off.

-Arrive prior to program start time each week to set up and be ready to greet Bigs (high school or college students) and Littles (elementary school students)

-Ensure set up and clean up of meeting supplies and snacks, facilitate group match activities if appropriate, and support Bigs as they navigate their relationships with their Littles.

-Have regular weekly communication with BBBSMM staff to discuss program and site logistics, attendance, successes, issues and concerns.  Ongoing training opportunities are provided by BBBSMM staff.

Bigs commit to spending 2-5 hours a week with their Little for one year. Bigs and Littles set their own schedule and choose free or low-cost activities they both enjoy. 

Do you have the desire to see ALL youth realize their potential in life? Click through to learn more! **We are in dire need of male Bigs-- 11 male Littles are currently waiting for their best-match Bigs in Penobscot county alone.**

Volunteer Bigs are interviewed and trained, must pass background checks., and must have a valid drivers' license and independent transportation.
