Volunteer: Volunteer Screening Team Member (Virtual)Become a Volunteer Screener for the Red Cross! In the Volunteer Screener role, you may well be the first real Red Crosser a candidate gets to talk with, and they are eager. You’ll want to seek to understand what brought prospective volunteers to the Red Cross, their areas of interest, and what positions they would find most meaningful. You’ll use your understanding from talking with the volunteer candidates to match expressed interest with the needs of the organization. Therefore, you’ll be connecting new recruits with positions for which they are both interested, well-suited, and needed. Then you will update their status in our volunteer management system. You can do this role remotely from your living room in Northern New England or, if you prefer, from an NNE Red Cross office near you. You’ll want to have 4 – 8 hours a week available for this role. To learn more, visit www.redcross.org/volunteer/become-a-volunteer or email VolunteerNNE@redcross.org. Volunteer: Join our Volunteer Recruitment ForceWhether you prefer to be behind the scenes or front and center at events, I've got an opportunity for you!
Red Cross is 90% staffed by volunteers - they are our workforce! Volunteers serve all up and down our organization and, as a recruiter, I can't do it alone for the whole state of Maine. In my role as the one and only full-time Volunteer Recruitment Specialist for the state, I need volunteers myself! How about you? The recruitment effort takes many forms. There's internet research, online postings, virtual events to run, tracking of progress, and even events to attend. Also, almost all of this can be done from your choice location as long as you have connectivity. The exception would be if you want to go out in your community (like to post flyers) or decide to attend a local event for me. To learn more, email VolunteerNNE@redcross.org.
