Spectrum Generations is seeking a Medicare volunteer to assist those within our community needing additional education surrounding Medicare. Our volunteers can help individuals one-on-one and by teaching a local Medicare 101 class within our Area Agency on Aging counties.

Our Medicare 101 sessions provide an overview of the qualifications, the different parts of Medicare, what is covered, and when to enroll. Spectrum Generations Medicare 101 classes empower participants in making decisions regarding their plans by receiving unbiased information on what plan is best for them.

Medicare volunteers must become SHIP certified by attending a three-day training course and by passing the SHIP exam. This training is of no cost to you and provided by Spectrum Generations. The training is virtual and can be taken at home. 

Spectrum Generations volunteers must be 18 years of age and older, complete a volunteer application, and pass a background check.

Healthy Living for ME® (HL4ME®) is Maine’s Community Care Hub (CCH), a collaborative effort involving local organizations, health systems, and volunteers. We aim to enhance health and wellness across Maine by coordinating community resources and empowering individuals to manage their health effectively, promoting a culture where prevention and wellness are prioritized. Our mission is to coordinate and align community resources to improve the health and wellness of the people of Maine. Our vision is to provide Maine people with the skills and resources to take control and build healthier lives.

Programs offered include education, fitness instruction, self-care strategies, health promotion activities, and social care coordination. HL4ME supports various needs such as chronic disease management, caregiver support, diabetes prevention, and intellectual/developmental disability support that address social determinants of health.

We are seeking volunteers to become class facilitators for our HL4ME workshops. Training is required and is provided at no cost to you. Workshops are held widely across our Area Agency on Aging counties dependent on the local area need. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, be 18 years of age or older, and pass a background check. If you wish to teach a HL4ME workshop, please reach out as we would love to hear from you!

Spectrum Generations in Hallowell is in need of a volunteer kitchen assistant to help with one or more of the following tasks:

Volunteers will be expected to stand for the duration of their volunteering task, which can take as little or as much time as you desire. Volunteers must pass a background check and complete a volunteer application. If you wish to help feed our community and have time to spare, we would love to hear from you!

Spectrum Generations in Waterville is in need of a volunteer kitchen assistant to help with one or more of the following tasks:

Volunteers will be expected to stand for the duration of their volunteering task, which can take as little or as much time as you desire. Meals on Wheels helps serve ready-made meals to aging individuals within our community who are homebound.

Lincoln County is in need of a volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver who is willing to deliver meals to these individuals. Drivers must drive their own vehicle, pass a background check, and provide updated copies of their license, insurance, and registration. Drivers will be compensated per mile according to the current Spectrum Generations rate. 

Meals on Wheels pickup and delivery will take place at the Spectrum Generations Damariscotta location on Wednesday mornings. Please reserve the morning for this activity, where the time will vary based on route driven.

Drivers must drive their own vehicle, pass a background check, and provide updated copies of their license, insurance, and registration. Meals on Wheels pickup and delivery will take place at the Spectrum Generations Brunswick location on Wednesday and Friday mornings. Please reserve the morning for this activity, where the time will vary based on route driven.

Waldo County is in need of a volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver who is willing to deliver meals to these individuals. Drivers will must drive their own vehicle, pass a background check, and provide updated copies of their license, insurance, and registration. Drivers will be compensated per mile according to the current Spectrum Generations rate. 

Meals on Wheels pickup and delivery will take place at the Spectrum Generations Belfast location on Tuesday mornings. Please reserve the morning for this activity, where the time will vary based on route driven.

There are two Packer roles being in the morning as a Milk Packer, or in the afternoon as a Frozen Meal Packer. Both roles will work amongst other volunteers on an assembly line to pack Meals on Wheels for local consumers. 

We welcome families, individuals, and businesses to volunteer towards our mission. If you feel like you are able to stand for about 1-2 hours and would like to help feed our community, we want you! 

Please note that a background check may be required for individuals looking to volunteer long-term.

Spectrum Generations is in need of a Van Driver to deliver Meals on Wheels coolers to one of our other locations. Volunteer must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a good driving record. You will be driving the Spectrum Generations van to one of our outlying centers. This opportunity could be 1-3 days per week depending on availability. Please allow between 8am-12pm noon for this task. The completion time will vary depending on the location delivered to, with usual length of time being 1-3 hours round trip. 

Van Drivers will leave from Hallowell to either Brunswick or Damariscotta. Usual days of the week are Wednesdays and Fridays. 

Spectrum Generations is in need of a Van Driver to deliver Meals on Wheels coolers to one of our other locations. Volunteer must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and have a good driving record. You will be driving the Spectrum Generations van to one of our outlying centers. This opportunity could be 1-3 days per week depending on availability. Please allow between 8am-12pm noon for this task. The completion time will vary depending on the location delivered to, with usual length of time being 1-3 hours round trip. 

Van Drivers will leave from Waterville to either Belfast or Skowhegan. Usual days of the week are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
