Description
The Brakeman assists the Engineer to provide a safe trip for the passengers on the train. He/she checks signs and crossings and communicates with the Engineer. The Brakeman also communicates with the Conductor about the movement of the train. He operates switches and watches for safety issues and emergencies along the train's route. The Brakeman also assists the Engineer in inspecting locomotive and railroad cars before leaving the station and at the end of the day. He/she may complete forms related to the train trip and/or inspections completed.
