If you know and love Maine, the perfect volunteer opportunity awaits you! Join the Greater Bangor Visitor Center in welcoming visitors and provide invaluable information regarding accommodations, attractions, events, and other aspects that help make memorable experiences.
The Greater Bangor Visitor Center volunteers assist travelers upon their arrival to Bangor, Maine. The information center is open only on the weekdays to assist visitors by answering questions, giving maps & directions, assisting with reservations and offering travel, dining and entertainment information.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting individuals who come into the visitor center to learn more about Maine & the Greater Bangor Region. You’ll meet international visitors, convention attendees, families and more.
Maintain visitor center operations by helping keep brochure racks filled and organized
Occasionally answer visitor center calls
Stock and run small retail area and ticket sales
Keep up-to-date on Greater Bangor area events, attractions and more
Assist with special events and programming
Skills and/or Training:
Each volunteer will receive an orientation to the Visitor Center, visitor services and regional destination training.
CPR Certification is preferred but not required.
Greater Bangor Visitor Center Information:
Covering Augusta north to Canadian borders, plus some Canadian travel
Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; shifts are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Positions are available year-round; primarily mid-May through end of September
Ideally, we would like to have a minimum of 10 hours per week on a regularly scheduled day but time requirements may be flexible depending on volunteer’s availability.
The center is run by the Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau and is located at 330 Harlow Street in Intown Plaza, free parking is available.
