Pine Tree Hospice is a volunteer hospice. Unlike medical hospice programs that may only assist clients when they have a life expectancy of six months or less and have chosen not to pursue curative treatment, volunteer hospices may engage with individuals and families affected by life-limiting, progressive conditions whenever they request support -- even when they are pursuing curative treatment.
What We Do
As our slogan states, "We can't add days to your life... but we can add life to your days." Pine Tree Hospice has over 130 volunteers who provide a wide range of direct and indirect supports that help individuals with serious illnesses experience the highest quality of life that their medical conditions will allow. Volunteers offer companionship, transportation, assistance with household chores, and other kinds of emotional and practical support. Pine Tree Hospice provides services to individuals of all ages and their families. Volunteers choose the kinds of activities they are most interested in and most comfortable providing. All Pine Tree Hospice services and supports are aimed at helping individuals and families determine and realize what will make their lives most fulfilling at a a most vulnerable time in their lives. In addition to offering direct support to clients, Pine Tree Hospice has bereavement and caregiver support programs. Volunteers assist with these programs, and may also choose to help with fundraising efforts.
