Who We Are
Waterfall Arts was founded in 2000 as the Arts Center at Kingdom Falls on an expansive 11-acre rustic site in Montville, Maine. The founders and area artists came together to offer local arts experiences for all ages and skill levels inspired by the natural beauty of the woods, streams, ponds, and waterfalls on site. In 2005, the Mayor and City Council of Belfast, looking to re-purpose its 1935 Anderson Elementary School, encouraged Waterfall Arts to expand from Montville and establish a year-round arts center in downtown Belfast.
Today, Waterfall Arts is a vibrant, nonprofit, community art venue committed to its mission of “nurturing and inspiring creative expression across midcoast Maine.”
What We Do
We offer year round arts programming for all ages including classes, workshops, open studios, exhibitions, and fundraising events.
Classrooms within our Belfast location are available for short term rental. We also have 17 long term studio rental spaces for tenants who offer weekly classes or use as their private studio space.
In our Clifford and Corridor galleries, we offer rotating art exhibitions throughout the year in a variety of mediums. Our educational efforts are focused on drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography and glass blowing.
In addition to arts education, we offer artist lecture series, events, and art happenings.
