Who We Are
Partners for World Health is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Founded in 2009 PWH collects
unused medical supplies throughout Maine. Medical supplies are reprocessed, organized, packed and delivered to those less fortunate in our state and throughout the world.
All medical supplies including personal care items. dressings, respiratory supplies to beds,
Hoyer lifts and exam tables and much more, are all good and would end up in landfills. With
the development of the PWH organization, we are not only taking these supplies, but helping
people in desperate need of medical care, and save our environment at the same time. We collect from hospitals in the Portland and Bangor area and looking for volunteers in the Bangor area to assist college students in our pickups at St Joseph's Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center.
The organization is made up of over 800 volunteers from across Maine; and are of all ages, educational levels and ethnicities. Our volunteers not only learn the rewarding value of assisting others, but also learn skills such as: following instructions; time management; organization; and communication skills. These skills are essential in every aspect of day to day living. We are proud to have had a long working relationship with Goodwill, Strive and The Morrison Center, and feel strongly that their members have benefited from their time volunteering with PWH.
What We Do
PWH collects discarded medical supplies from local hospitals, nursing homes. rehab centers and private individuals in the within a 50 mile radius of the Bangor area. These items are transferred to our local warehouse in Bangor on Rice Street where they are stored until transfer to the distribution Center for re processing, packing and shipping. WE NEED YOU to help students at the University of Maine Orono PWH Chapter with this process.
