United Way is helping recruit volunteers for a telethon to raise funds for Honor Flight Maine. Honor Flight Maine, with its first flight in May of 2014, is a non-profit organization solely created to transport Maine veterans to Washington D.C. for tours of the memorials built in their honor. The first annual Telethon raised over $120,000. It costs $700 to send one veteran on a trip.
On Thursday November 16th NEWS CENTER is holding its 2nd annual Honor Flight Maine Telethon. Phone lines will be open from 5:00 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. to take donations. We will have a phone bank at WLBZ 2 on Mount Hope Avenue in Bangor.
