Who we are:
We are the Governing Board for The Ecology Learning Center which is a publicly funded charter high school in Unity, Maine. Our Board is currently comprised of six members with a broad range of skills and experiences. We strive to create a collaborative environment where we work to effectively govern the school.
What we do:
As an Ecology Learning Center Board member, we are advocates for the vision and mission of the organization: “Our mission is to deeply root students in Maine’s ecological and cultural landscapes, foster authentic real-world learning through mentorship and craft, and cultivate compassionate and resilient leaders prepared to engage in the challenges of today and tomorrow.” We meet monthly as a full Board and also commit to active participation in one or more committees. The Board works very closely with the Executive Director in determining budgets, programming and policy development. An annual self-assessment and Board retreat days provide ongoing training and opportunities for strategic planning. We are currently interested in recruiting additional Board members.
