We are a diverse group of individuals that play and officiate flat track roller derby and are associated with Central Maine Derby, the largest roller derby league in the area. We welcome all individuals at all skill levels. Never skated before? No problem, we can teach individuals at any skill level. We also have positions for skating or non-skating officials. No experience necessary, we have a training program for new officials too! This is a fun way to meet new people and help with one of the fastest growing sports today. We are always recruiting and looking for new dedicated people, contact us today!
What We Do
Central Maine Derby strives to be a family-friendly organization involved in its community through volunteerism and action. We regularly host and help with events to benefit non-profits in our area, such as Spruce Run, Paws on Parade, Ronald McDonald House, the Chamberlain March and the American Folk Festival. All of our skaters and officials are welcome to take part in any of our volunteering opportunities.
We are always in need of additional volunteers at our practices and games. There are two types of officiating positions: skating and non-skating officials. Skating officials (referees) watch the skaters and call penalties. The non-skating officials work a variety of different jobs including timing the penalty box, tracking penalties, tracking score, and timing the jams. There is something for everyone!
